Customer Steals 20 Bottles Of Fireball: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

  • Derek Joseph Wilson, 31, of the 1000 block of N. Wheatberry Drive, Carol Stream, is accused of driving on a suspended license, using an electronic communication device while driving, expired registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 12:47 a.m. Nov. 28, at Buffalo Grove and Lake Cook roads. He was released and assigned a court date of Dec. 13.
  • Alan A. Abarca, 27, of the 1600 block of Silverstone Drive, Carpentersville, is accused of driving on a revoked license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, not wearing a seat belt, and was arrested at 8:20 a.m. Nov. 29, at Dundee and Arlington Heights roads. He was released and assigned a court date of Dec. 20.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

  • Itzel Franco-Medina, 23, of the 1000 block of Beverly Drive, Wheeling, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, driving 11-14 mph above the limit, obstructing a front windshield, and was arrested at 1:52 a.m. Nov. 28, at E. Dundee Road and Cambridge Drive. She was released and assigned a court date of Dec. 18.
  • Carmel Acacia Cruz, 25, of the 1200 block of King Circle, West Chicago, is accused of no driver's license, DUI alcohol, DUI alcohol with a BAC of .08 or more, and was arrested at 4:05 a.m. Nov. 28, in the 1100 block of W. Dundee Road. He was released and assigned a court date of Jan. 7, 2025.

INCIDENTS

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

A resident in the 200 block of St. Mary's Parkway reported at 2:30 a.m. Nov. 28, their vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra, had been stolen from the driveway.

RETAIL THEFT

Police responded to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 4:44 p.m. Dec. 1, for a retail theft report. The store said a customer had stolen a bucket of Fireball whiskey bottles (20 bottles), a four-pack of Monaco tequila, a bottle of The Rock Effen, and a lemon. The customer had driven off from the property. Police called them and said to come back to the store for a citation, trespass notice and restitution.
