Medical Cannabis Dispensary To Move Across Buffalo Grove

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. - The only medical marijuana dispensary in Buffalo Grove will soon be moving locations.

Sunnyside Dispensaries, which has 8 locations throughout Illinois, currently operates a medical cannabis shop off of Aptakisic Road and Barclay Boulevard. This shop exclusively caters to medical cannabis needs, and Sunnyside has announced that they will soon be moving operations to a new location in the Shops of Buffalo Grove, a strip mall at the corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Deerfield Parkway. This new, updated shop is considerably larger, but will still only exclusively sell medical cannabis.

The new location was supposed to open earlier in 2020, but was delayed due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sunnyside is currently the only cannabis dispensary, medical or otherwise, in Buffalo Grove, and is one of very few dispensaries in the surrounding area. The next closest dispensary to the Sunnyside location is in Mundelein, which offers both recreational and medical cannabis.

The state of Illinois legalized the sale of medical cannabis in 2013, becoming one of forty states to allow some form of medicinal marijuana product. In June 2019, Illinois passed into law the legalization of recreational cannabis, becoming just the 11th US state to fully legalize the use of marijuana.
