Free Workshop Aims to Improve Job Seekers Resumes

CareerPlace of Barrington is offering the free workshop Oct. 13.

If securing an interview leading to a job offer is the goal, then targeting your resume to draw attention to your accomplishments and unique abilities offers the best opportunity to reach that goal.

Thursday, Oct. 13, from 7-9 p.m. at , 600 Hart Rd. Suite 275, Sally A. Morrison will offer pointers and outline strategies job seekers can use to determine how their resumes can work better for them. Targeting your resume as much as possible to meet the needs and qualifications of a potential position is a must. The free session is open to the public.

“Your resume has to draw attention to your unique abilities, demonstrate your value to potential employers and prompt a potential employer to invite you for an interview,” Morrison said. “Each of us has unique previous job experience potential employers will value...Your resume needs to show how you are different and provide concrete examples of the value you bring. If possible, be sure to highlight accomplishments you can claim that made or saved a previous employer substantially more money than the position you seek pays.”
