Hair For You

Salon specializes in wigs to help women feel better about hair loss.

Just west of the intersection of Buffalo Grove Road and Dundee Road sits the warmest and most life changing hair salon. Owner Linda DiFronzo of Hair For You Salon has created a welcoming shop where women suffering hair loss due to chemotherapy, medication, alopecia or female pattern baldness can feel comfortable and at ease.

Linda worked at a salon in Buffalo Grove for many years then moved to Florida with her husband 17 years ago. Fate played a huge role in Linda's life, as her neighbors in Florida were also hairdressers with ideas to open a full service wig salon. Working together, they taught each other how to cut, style, color and adapt a wig to fit a woman perfectly.

In 2006, Linda moved back to Chicago and desired to design a salon where she could help someone look and feel better. She told me, "I fell in love with the wigs. It's so rewarding to create the perfect look for someone."

Denise Duda of Buffalo Grove was diagnosed with cancer in September 2008. She went to a wig specialist and left there feeling miserable. She says, "I sat in a waiting room as if I were at the doctor's office. I was assigned a woman about 30 years older than me and while I waited in a consultation room, she would bring me wigs that she thought would work for me." Denise had no opportunity to see or touch any of the wigs and felt discouraged.

She thankfully found Hair For You Salon and was completely overwhelmed at the vast amount of wigs available for her to look at and choose from. Linda was her guide to finding the perfect selection. Denise, who had been secretive about her cancer, was shocked at the amount of school functions she attended where no one ever knew or noticed that she was wearing a wig.

Linda is not just talented; but engaging, gracious and giving. With each chemotherapy wig purchased, the client receives an unlimited amount of haircuts from the time the wig is purchased until hair loss. She'll receive custom sizing and shaping of the wig as well as a first haircut after her hair grows back.

Simply, Linda states, "When a woman looks in the mirror, she should see herself, not the wig."
