Man Smokes In Restaurant Prior To Dashing: Buffalo Grove PD Blotter

A waiter had asked the man to smoke outside, which he complied, but then fled without paying for his bill.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

  • Anthony Jose Parra, 21, of the 200 block of 11th Street, Wheeling, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, expired registration, and was arrested at 5:58 p.m. Aug. 15, at Buffalo Grove and McHenry roads. He was released and given a court date of Sept. 23.
  • Alfarooq Omar Al Badri, 25, of the 9100 block of Stevenson Drive, Des Plaines, is accused of driving on a revoked license, operating a vehicle with an expired registration, and was arrested at 8:48 p.m. Aug. 17, at W. Dundee and Old Buffalo Grove roads. He was released and assigned a court date of Sept. 23.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

Police responded to Woodman's Market, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 4:25 p.m. Aug. 14, for a retail theft report. A man had entered the store, put multiple times into a shopping cart, then put the items in two plastic bags and left the store without paying. Police gave the man a trespass and theft citation. He is due in court on Sept. 10.

THEFT

  • Police responded to Flambe India, 1155 McHenry Road, on Aug. 17 for a theft report. On the previous day, at 7 p.m., a male and female consumed $36.30 worth of food. At 8:20 p.m., the male lite a cigarette and began smoking inside the restaurant. The server asked him to step outside if he wanted to smoke. The male complied and then left the premise with the female, neither paying for their order.
  • A resident in the 600 block of Grove Drive called police at 5:10 p.m. Aug. 18, to report their bicycle had been stolen from the back patio of their condo between 1:20 and 5:10 p.m. Police found the bicycle on the west side of Grove Drive.

BURGLARY

Police responded to Dev Liquors, 1170 McHenry Road, at 3:55 a.m. Aug. 18, for an alarm. Police saw two vehicles pull out of the eastern entrance of the parking lot from McHenry Road. As the officer turned around to get behind the vehicles, they left traveling southbound on McHenry Road at a high rate of speed. Police followed, but lost sight after reaching Buffalo Grove Road. Upon returning to the store, police found the front window of the store smashed and items inside in disarray. Numerous items had been taken and broken from the store.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

A citizen reported on Aug. 18, that at some point during the previous two days, someone had broken into his car and stole several items while it was parked in the 1100 block of Johnson Drive.
