Neighbors Fight Over Parenting Style; Man Drops ‘Rifle’: Blotter
A resident called out a neighbor over their parenting style; police were called to a business over a "rifle": Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
HARASSMENT THROUGH ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS

A business in the 2100 block of E Lake Cook Road reported at 3:33 p.m. Aug. 20, receiving several emails from a terminated employee.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

- A driver called police at 7:44 p.m. Aug. 20, to report damage to her passenger side tire rim and tire after she struck a pothole on Dundee Road.
- An employee reported at 2:20 p.m. Aug. 23, that someone damaged her front passenger window while she was working in the 1000 block of Johnson Drive. Nothing was reported missing.
FINANCIAL INSTITUTE FRAUD
A Highland Grove Road resident reported at 12:56 p.m. Aug. 21, receiving a letter from "American Residential Warranty" thanking him for purchasing a protection plan and advising that a monthly fee would be automatically withdrawn from his account. The complainant was advised to cancel the plan and report the incident to his bank.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON
Officers responded to a call at 5:01 p.m. Aug. 21, from Shops at Aptakisic, 1661 N Buffalo Grove Road, for a person with a gun. Upon arrival, the person was standing by the trunk of a vehicle and immediately dropped the rifle, which ended up being an airsoft rifle. The person apologized and said he had just purchased it, and was looking over his new toy.

IDENTITY THEFT
- A Middlesex Court resident called police at 6:50 p.m. Aug. 21, to report they had responded to a text message from Chase Bank Fraud Division and provided their personal information via an attached website link.
- A Windsor Drive reported at noon Aug. 22, that someone used her debit card without her authorization to Walmart.com. In addition, she discovered that someone else had paid her property tax bill.
- A Raintree Road resident called police at noon Aug. 24, to report someone used her credit card to purchase over $9,000 in goods and services over the phone. The credit card company confirmed, denied all the charges and closed the account.
LANDLORD/TENANT DISPUTE
A landlord and tenant in the 100 block of Morningside Lane E had a verbal dispute at 8:02 p.m. Aug. 21, on when the tenant should move out.
CUSTOMER/MANAGEMENT DISPUTE
An employee at Wholesalers Unlimited, 124 N McHenry Road, reported at 12:32 p.m. Aug. 23, a customer had become upset after being told "all sales were final" when he tried to cancel the delivery of a refrigerator he had previously purchased. The responding officer explained the term "all sales final" to the customer, and he agreed to have the fridge delivered.
BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE
- A customer at Spray N Play, 951 McHenry Road, called police at 4:43 p.m. Aug. 23, to report that she discovered that her center console and glove box had been gone through upon returning to her vehicle. She told officers that her wallet was missing, and she has since received a fraud alert from a store and two other fraudulent charges that went through on two of her cards in the wallet. There was no damage to the vehicle.
- A passerby reported at 6:29 a.m. Aug. 22, seeing a vehicle parked in the parking lot of Four Points by Sheridan, 900 W Lake Cook Road, with a broken window. Officers located the vehicle and the owner said several items were missing from the vehicle.
PUBLIC COMPLAINT/DISPUTE
A resident in the 1000 block of Brentwood Circle reported at noon Aug. 24, that he felt the landscapers hired by the association drove too quickly and made excessive noise. Officers explained to the complainant that the machines are very loud by default. The owner of the company explained that his workers do the job quickly since the temperatures are so high and they have other job sites to attend to. Everything was calm upon the officers' departure.
THEFT
A customer at Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E Deerfield Parkway, reported at 1:18 p.m. Aug. 25, that when she exited the store and was walking to her car, she was approached by an older male. The man began asking her questions about her car and was shortly joined by a female, who also asked her about the vehicle. Both individuals offered to help her put her groceries in return. The following morning, she said that her wallet was missing and she last remembered placing it in the shopping cart after paying for groceries.
DISPUTE
A verbal altercation took place between two neighbors at 6 p.m. Aug. 25, in the 800 block of Vernon Court, when one expressed displeasure with the other's parenting style. The other neighbor didn't appreciate her advice.
