North Suburban YMCA Invites the Community to Its Annual Trunk or Treat on October 18

Free family event from 1–3 p.m.; community members, nonprofits, and local businesses are invited to decorate vehicles and participate.

Northbrook, IL – September 2026 – The North Suburban YMCA invites families from throughout the community to celebrate the season at its annual Trunk or Treat, a free afternoon filled with costumes, candy, music, and family fun.

Presented by Allstate, Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, Wintrust Community Banks, and Waterway Carwash, the event will take place rain or shine on Sunday, October 18, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. on the YMCA’s outdoor campus, located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook.

The YMCA’s parking lot will once again be transformed into a festive Halloween destination featuring creatively decorated vehicles, trick-or-treating, games, and activities for children. Families are encouraged to come dressed in costume and enjoy an afternoon of seasonal fun in a safe and welcoming environment.

In addition to trick-or-treating, guests can enjoy bounce houses, music by Bach to Rock, and a variety of contests. Children ages 12 and under are invited to participate in a Costume Contest, while Trunk or Treat participants can compete for the Most Creative Vehicle Awards, with winners receiving trophies and prizes.

Community members interested in decorating a vehicle and participating in the Trunk or Treat may do so free of charge. Nonprofit organizations are also welcome to participate at no cost. Local businesses wishing to showcase their products or services can participate for a nominal fee.

"Our Trunk or Treat has evolved over the many years of hosting, and it always provides a wonderful opportunity for families to connect, local organizations and businesses to engage with the community, and children to create lasting memories."

Water, popcorn, and other concessions will be available for purchase during the event. Outside food and beverages are not permitted.
