Pair Nabbed For $300 Theft At Walgreens: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

An employee at Walgreens wrote down the license plate of the car used in the crime and eventually tracked the two down at Dollar Tree.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Anderson Fab Toapanta-Quishpe, 22, of the 2800 block of S. Homan Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving without a license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no front license plate, and was arrested at 5:21 p.m. Oct. 9, at Lake Cook Road and Timber Hill Road. He was released and assigned a court date of Nov. 15.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

Alec C. Pitter, 29, of the 800 block of Carnaby Court, Schaumburg, is accused of driving on a suspended license, disregarding a traffic control device, expired registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 5:25 p.m. Oct. 10, at Weiland Road and E. Pauline Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Nov. 15.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

  • Byung H. Moon, 65, of the 600 block of Flagstaff, Hoffman Estates, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, unsafe backing on a roadway, and was arrested at 8 p.m. Oct. 12, at Raupp Boulevard and Church. He was released and assigned a court date of Nov. 13.
  • Amy N. Henwood, 45, of the 3200 block of S. Leavitt Street, Chicago, is accused of DUI alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, and was arrested at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 13, at E. Deerfield Parkway and Commerce Court. She was released and assigned a court date of Nov. 13.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

Police responded to a citizen at 4:35 p.m. Oct. 9, for a theft in the 1200 block of N. Arlington Heights Road. The person told police that at 4:10 p.m., they had left their blue 26-inch mountain bike unsecured in the bicycle rack just outside a McDonald's. When he came back 20 minutes later, it was gone.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident in the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane called police at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 10, to report their vehicle had been keyed while parked inside the secure parking garage at the building. Both the rear and front passenger side quarter panels had sustained scratches measuring over 12 inches in length.

RETAIL THEFT

  • Police responded to Jewel, 79 McHenry Road, at 10:44 a.m. Oct. 13, for a retail theft report. A person at the customer service desk told police they had seen a man and a woman walk by with items, valued at $72.80, in their cart. They passed all points of purchase without paying for the items. Eventually, the employee confronted the man and grabbed the cart of unpaid items. The pair left the scene in a black Chevy Equinox, traveling northbound on McHenry Road.
  • Police responded to Walgreens, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road, at 4:08 p.m. Oct. 13, for a retail theft report. An employee said a woman took a basket full of items, including shampoo and candy, from the store, and entered a car with a male. The employee got the car's license plate number, and police were able to track the car down at Dollar Tree, 1212 W. Dundee. Road. Police said the woman admitted to taking $312.63 worth of merchandise from Walgreens. The pair were trespassed from both Walgreens and Dollar Store. They were given a court date of Nov. 12.
