PlayStation 5 Fraud; Medicine Theft At Jewel-Osco: Blotter
A resident paid for a PlayStation 5, but never received it; a man is accused of trying to steal 1K of medicine: Buffalo Grove Blotter.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Ryan Paul Marshall, 35, of Bartlett, is accused of retail theft at Jewel-Osco, 79 McHenry Road, and was arrested at 5:56 p.m. Dec. 3. A representative from loss prevention told police that they saw Marshall filling a shopping cart with medication, before taking the items from the cart and concealing them in his clothing. He was escorted to the security office after attempting to leave the store without paying for the $900 worth of merchandise. Police also discovered Marshall had two outstanding warrants out of Bartlett (heroin possession) and the Illinois Department of Corrections (parole violation). A charge of burglary and two felony retail theft charges were approved by the Lake County State Attorney's Office.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

Michael T. Groffman, 55, of the 1100 block of Captains Lane, Wheeling, is accused of having warrants for four counts of aggravated assault, battery/bodily harm, battery, reckless conduct/bodily harm, reckless driving, and was arrested at 4:53 p.m. Dec. 8. A bond hearing was scheduled for Dec. 9 in Waukegan.
DOMESTIC BATTERY
Jacqueline Savitsky, 58, of Buffalo Grove, is accused of domestic battery/physical contact, domestic battery/bodily harm, and was arrested at 7:57 p.m. Dec. 5 in Buffalo Grove. She was due in court for a bond hearing on Dec. 6.
INCIDENTS
PUBLIC COMPLAINT: SAFETY OR HEALTH HAZARD
Police received a complaint that too many people were having dinner inside Prairie House, 2710 N Main St. at 6:12 p.m. Dec. 4. Upon arrival, police found 18 patrons inside the restaurant, six patrons in the billiards room without masks, three patrons in the bar area eating and drinking. There were also eight additional patrons properly spaced and wearing masks while eating dinner on the patio. Police advised a manager of the violations.
PUBLIC COMPLAINT: ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
Police were called to the parking lot of Dollar Tree, 1212 Dundee Road, at 7:06 p.m. Dec. 4 for a report of a hit-and-run incident with damage to property. The complainant told police that when the passenger of a GMC Terrain parked to her left, they opened the passenger front door and struck their driver side front wheel arch.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT: FALSE POLICE REPORT
Police responded to the area of Whitehall Court at 3:40 p.m. Dec. 4 after receiving a phone call from a male stating he shot his parents and will shoot any responding police officers. Upon arrival, the homeowner and a family member were asked to exit the home with their hands up. They did so without incident and police entered the home. They cleared it after finding no threats insides. The homeowner and family member told police they knew nothing about the 911 call or the person's name that was used.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A resident in the 200 block of Anthony Road called police at 3 p.m. Dec. 10 to report someone had hit their mailbox with their vehicle. The incident happened between 2-3 p.m. according to the resident. They have no camera on the property and could not provide any additional information.
INVESTIGATION NON-SPECIFIC
Employees from Fleck's Landscaping reported at 8:59 a.m. Dec. 5 that while they were clearing leaves in the rear parking lot of Chicago Funeral Homes, 195 N Buffalo Grove Road, an unknown driver and vehicle drove fast toward them. The driver yelled out profanities and struck one of the employees in the right leg with the car. The employee refused medical service. The vehicle exited out onto northbound Buffalo Grove Road. A photo of the offending car was taken, but no license plate information was obtained. A bank nearby has video surveillance of the area and police are attempting to obtain it.
COMPUTER FRAUD
A Lilac Lane resident called police at 8:34 a.m. Dec. 3 to report they received an email from Amazon regarding a purchase. The resident responded to the email and this resulted in a hacker taking control of their computer.
DECEPTIVE PRACTICES
An Oak Creek Drive resident reported at 12:41 p.m. Nov. 30 that they went to a Walmart in Palatine to purchase at PlayStation 5. A person there told the resident they could put them in contact with someone selling them. The resident said they began receiving Snapchat messages from the person. They said to send $475 via Paypal, and they would receive a receipt. When the resident didn't receive the receipt, they reached out to the person via Snapchat, but was blocked. The resident was advised to contact Paypal and their credit card company.
