'Put The Phone Away Or Pay': Buffalo Grove Police Cite 36 Drivers
The effort was part of April's Distracted Driving Awareness Month enforcement campaign.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — April was busy for the Buffalo Grove Police Department with its participation in the Distracted Driving Awareness Month enforcement campaign. In all, 36 citations were issued for hands-free law violations over the 30 days.
"We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason–to save lives," Commander Tara Anderson said. "This increased enforcement was implemented to help motorists avoid the often-deadly consequences of distracted driving with a simple reminder: 'Put the Phone Away or Pay.'"
BGPD joined forces with the Illinois State Police, local law enforcement and highway safety partners for this enforcement effort. The Illinois distracted driving campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
