Racial Epithets Discovered Near Homes: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter
Residents called police after finding racial epithets and obscene images spray-painted on sidewalks and walking paths, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Tadeusz Kocaj, 70, of the 200 block of S. Roselle Road, Roselle, is accused of battery, and was arrested at 9:27 a.m. Dec. 8, in the 700 block of Corporate Grove Drive. A woman told police she was grabbed by Kocaj during a dispute over a parking spot. He was released after posting bond and was assigned a court date of Dec. 27.
DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

Jorge Garcia Luna, 45, of the 400 block of 4th Street, Northfield, is accused of driving on a suspended license, driving with a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 12:27 a.m. Dec. 10, at E. Half Day Road and Apple Hill Lane. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Dec. 20.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Tsolmon Odon, 29, of the 0-10 block of Oak Creek Drive, Buffalo Grove, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, operating a motor vehicle with no valid license, illegal stopping, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 8:57 p.m. Dec. 9, at Vernon Court and Vernon Lane. He was released after posting bond and was assigned a court date of Jan. 19, 2023.

VANDALISM
- A resident reported at 8:09 a.m. Dec. 12, finding graffiti along the walking path between Gail Drive and Green Knolls Drive. The public works department was notified to restore the path.
- A resident in the 1200 block of Gail Drive called police at 6:44 p.m. Dec. 12, to report she saw racial epithets spray-painted on a walking path near their house. The Buffalo Grove Park District was notified for removal, and there were no suspects at the time of the report.
- A resident in the 700 block of Chaucer Way reported at 3:51 p.m. Dec. 12, she found obscene images and racial epithets spray-painted on a sidewalk near her home. The Buffalo Grove Park District was notified for removal, and there were no suspects at the time of the report.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee at Rogan's Shoe Store, 1300 W. Dundee Road, called police at 5:05 p.m. Dec. 13, that a black male, approximately 5-foot8 to 5-foot-10, medium build, wearing a light green jacket, khaki color cargo pants, dark rim glasses, wearing a blue Chicago Bears baseball style hat, gray and blue shirt top half, walked out of the store with a shoe he did not pay for. The man walked around the store while appearing to be on his phone, placed a winter boot down his pants, before leaving.
