Resident Finds Razor Blades In 2 Tires: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

The resident had to have both tires replaced at a tire repair shop, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Dmytro Shymko, 20, is accused of possession of a controlled substance (class 4 felony), and was arrested at 5 p.m. Dec. 30, in the 100 block of N. Buffalo Grove Road. Police responded to the area for a report of a suspicious vehicle. A court date of Dec. 31 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

A resident in the 100 block of Buckingham Lane reported at 6:56 a.m. Dec. 30, their Volkswagen had been stolen from the driveway during the early hours. Later in the evening, it was found in Waukegan and towed back to Buffalo Grove.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 400 block of Ferndale Court called police at 11:13 a.m. Dec. 30, to report someone had entered their garage and stole personal items from inside.
  • A resident in the 2500 block of Waterbury Lane reported on Dec. 30, that someone had forced entry into their home between 3:30 p.m. and 7:55 p.m. and stole personal items while they were not home.

RETAIL THEFT

A manager at Walgreens, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road, reported at 12:33 a.m. Jan. 1, a retail theft. The manager showed police video footage of the incident. The video showed two people exiting a silver BMW with a partial plate. The suspects are described as:

  • White, female, black hair, wearing a white puffer jacket with a fur hood, black pants, black boots, with a black purse
  • White, male, wearing a light gray sweatshirt black pants, and black shoes

The pair placed whipped cream bottles and other unknown merchandise into the female's bag. The two exited the store at around 12:28 a.m. and drove southbound on Buffalo Grove Road. The vehicle then turned westbound onto St. Mary's Parkway.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident in the 700 block of Golfview Terrace reported on Jan. 2 that when driving their car, the tire pressure monitoring system was notifying them that the tire pressure was low. After taking the vehicle to a tire shop, they learned the sidewall of the front right tire was cut, so they needed to purchase a new tire. On the following day, they found a small razor blade in the rear left side wall and again went to the tire repair shop.
