Resident Realizes COVID-19 'Testing Site' Is Scam: Blotter
They discovered the site through Google and received a negative result over the phone despite not taking test: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

Miguel Angel Alcazar, 48, of the 1500 block of Winslowe Drive, Palatine, is accused of driving on a revoked license, uninsured motor vehicle, license violations, driving 11-14 mph above the speed limit, and was arrested at 9:49 p.m. Sept. 4, in the 1200 block of McHenry Road. He was assigned a court date of Sept. 22.

Andy Erick Paredes, 26, 20000 block of Tyler Avenue, Round Lake, is accused of driving under the influence, reckless driving, and was arrested at 6:55 p.m. Sept. 5, at McDonalds, 1200 N Arlington Heights Road. He was assigned a court date of Sept. 20.

INCIDENTS
CUSTOMER/MANAGEMENT DISPUTE
- An upset resident walked into the property management office at 10:01 a.m. Sept. 2, to complain about a term of their lease in the 1700 block of Johnson Drive. He slammed the door shut and broke the door. He will pay to have the door repaired.
- A store clerk reported at 7:10 a.m. Sept. 4, a customer was yelling at him for not giving him the gas he paid for. The customer provided officers a receipt showing he paid for two in-store items, but no gas.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A resident in the 600 block of Thompson Road reported at 10:51 a.m. Sept. 2, a Black Lives Matter sign with crude depictions and verbiage drawn on it was placed on the parkway across from their residence. The resident said it's an ongoing problem and not the first time a sign was left there. The sign was discarded.
ONLINE THEFT BY DECEPTION
A Villa Verde Drive resident called police at midnight Sept. 3, to report they had purchased a cat through an online vendor, but the cat was never delivered.
ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
- A person reported at 11:29 a.m. Sept. 3, that when they returned to their car, they saw someone resting their open car door against her car in the 1000 block of Weiland Road. She later discovered damage to her car where she said the car doors had made contact. The other vehicle owner admitted having his car door open, but denied making contact with the complainant's car.
- A person called police at 6:42 p.m. Sept. 3, to report that a man walking past her vehicle broke her rear driver's side window. After speaking with the man, the officer determined that it was the complainant's dog, which was inside the car, that broke the window.
BURGLARY
The owner of Lind Dental Care, 1501 W Dundee Road, reported at 2 p.m. Sept. 3, that property was missing from inside their office.
THEFT
- A person purchased three $500 Visa Gift cards and was using $20 bills to pay for it at 2:34 p.m. Sept. 3, at Mariano's Fresh Market, 450 W Half Day Road. As the cashier and person were counting out the bills, the person reached out and grabbed a large sum of money back and walked out of the store with the activated gift cards and cash.
- A person reported at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 7, that someone had removed the catalytic converter from is car while it was parked in the parking lot at the Buffalo Grove Park District, 225 N McHenry Road.
- An employee at Woodman's, 1550 E Deerfield Parkway, reported at 5 p.m. Sept. 8, they lost their cell phone while walking to the gas station to tend to a matter.
- A person called police at 10:30 p.m. Sept. 8, to report a rear license plate was stolen off a parked car in the 300 block of Lexington Drive.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
A resident in the 800 block of Kingsbridge Way reported at 5 a.m. Sept. 4, an item was missing from his unlocked vehicle, which was parked on the driveway.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
- A vehicle owner reported at 8 p.m. Sept. 5, that his rear window had been shattered while parked overnight in the parking lot. Nothing was missing from inside the vehicle.
- A resident in the 350 block of Raupp Boulevard called police at 9:15 p.m. Sept. 9, to report someone threw a rock through the bottom glass of a resident's rear storm door.
LOUD PARTY
Officers responded to the 300 block of Raupp Boulevard at 9 p.m. Sept. 5, for a loud music complaint. The homeowner was reminded about the noise ordinance and the music was turned off.
DECEPTION
- A Vintage Lane resident reported at 3 p.m. Sept. 8, that a fraudulent joint account was opened using their name and a large sum of money was transferred out of her account.
- A Timber Hill Road resident called police at noon Sept. 10 to report she had been told there was an open federal investigation on her and she would need to provide various forms of currency to resolve the case. She provided the caller with the demanded money and gift cards.
- A Hidden Lake Drive resident reported at 3 p.m. Sept. 10, that he received an email stating that he owed money for a Norton subscription for his computer. He provided his banking information and was later told by the scammer that they accidentally deposited too much money into his account. The bank confirmed the amount had been deposited in his account, so he wired the money back to the person. Their account is now showing the deposit missing from their account and the wire transfer pending.
INFORMATION FOR POLICE
A Regent Court East resident reported at 10:49 p.m. Sept. 11, they had called a number they had got from Google to schedule a COVID-19 test. Driving to the "testing facility," she realized it was a residential neighborhood. She called the provided number and was informed "he was not home." Therefore, she cancelled the appointment but still received an email saying her test was negative even though she did not provide a sample.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 2000 block of Brandwyn Lane called police at 3 p.m. Sept. 12, to report that a male came to her door stating he had to check her water. The male grabbed the door handle and she invited him in. They went to the kitchen and turned the water on and he asked her to monitor it. He stepped away, went into her bedroom and then the hallway bathroom before leaving the residence. She later noticed that she was missing jewelry valued at over $3,000.
