Resident Scammed By 'FBI Agent' Over The Phone: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

The resident said the caller was able to obtain money by posing as police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

  • Tyanna L. Brown, 29, of the 2100 block of Hebron Avenue, Zion, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle when registration is suspended, and was arrested at 6:44 p.m. Feb. 23, at Lake Cook and Arlington Heights roads. A court date of March 20 was assigned.
  • Valeria Alfaro, 27, of the 1000 block of Ronald Terrace, Round Lake Beach, is accused of driving on a revoked license, operating a motor vehicle when registration is suspended, and was arrested at 4:07 p.m. Feb. 11, at Weiland and McHenry. A court date of March 20 was assigned.
  • Jeremy P. Sachs, 30, of the 150 block of W. Euclid Avenue, Palatine, is accused of driving while license is revoked, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle when registration is suspended, unlawful display of registration, and was arrested at 4:33 p.m. Feb. 11, at Weiland and Woodstone. A court date of Feb. 25 was assigned.

DRIVER NEVER ISSUED A LICENSE

Javier Chalte-Garcia, 39, of the 1200 block of N. Riverwoods Road, Lincolnshire, is accused of never being issued a driver's license, speeding, and was arrested at 9:25 p.m. Feb. 20, at Half Day Road and Apple Hill Lane. A court date of March 20 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Jorge Reyes Piemental, 46, of the 400 block of Manda Lane, Wheeling, is accused of driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle when registration is suspended, and was arrested at 12:02 a.m. Feb. 12, at Buffalo Grove and St. Mary's. A court date of Feb. 25 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A backyard fence was found to be damaged at 1 a.m. Feb. 20, in the 900 block of Belmar Lane.

THEFT BY DECEPTION

A White Branch Court resident reported at 5:20 p.m. Feb. 24, they had been scammed out of currency by someone posing as an FBI agent over the phone.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

  • A catalytic converter was reported stolen at 4:26 a.m. Feb. 20, off a Hyundai Sonata in the 0-10 block of Villa Verde Drive.
  • A catalytic converter was reported stolen at 10 p.m. Feb. 22, off a Mitsubishi Outlander in the 1200 block of E. Deerfield Parkway.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

A Lexus RX was reported stolen between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Feb. 12, in the 100 block of Chestnut Avenue.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident in the 500 block of Cherbourg Court reported at 9:36 p.m. Feb. 17, someone had forced entry into the home, and proceeded to ransack the inside and steal items.
