Resident Sets Car On Fire In Garage: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

Police said the Buffalo Grove Fire Department was able to quickly put out the fire.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Evan J. Rude, 23, of the 900 block of Lucinda Drive, Buffalo Grove, is accused of criminal damage to property through means of a fire, and was arrested at 9:13 p.m. Sept. 2, in the 900 block of Lucinda Drive. Police and the firefighters were called to the area for a fire investigation and found a car on fire in the garage. The fire was quickly put out.

Jesus Munoz Franco, 20, of the 26300 block of N. Hickory Avenue, Mundelein, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, disregarding a traffic light, and was arrested at 12:35 a.m. Sept. 6, near Buffalo Grove and McHenry roads. He was released after posting bond and was assigned a court date of Sept. 20.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY TO A MOTOR VEHICLE

  • Police responded to the 1900 block of N. Buffalo Grove Road at 8:37 p.m. Sept. 7, for a burglary to motor vehicle report. A complainant told police someone had entered their car and stole various items.
  • Police responded to the 900 block of Twisted Oak at 8:33 p.m. Sept. 9, for a report that two cars had been burglarized and various items were missing.
  • Police responded to the 1300 block of Larchmont Drive at 10:15 a.m. Sept. 9, for a burglary to motor vehicle report. A citizen told police their car had been entered and various items were missing.
  • Police responded to a home in the 1000 block of Hobson Drive at 11:10 a.m. Sept. 9, for a burglary to motor vehicle report. A complainant told police their car had been entered and various items had been stolen.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A citizen called police at 11:31 a.m. Sept. 9, to report they had parked the car in a parking lot near the 100 block of South Buffalo Grove Road during the early morning hours and returned to find the rear driver's side window had been broken. She said the contents of her center console were on the front passenger seat, but nothing was missing.

RETAIL THEFT

Police responded to Woodman's, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 9:56 a.m. Sept. 11, for a retail theft report. An employee said a woman took merchandise without paying for it. She was intercepted by police and brought back to the store. She was issued an adjudication ticket and was trespassed from the store.

STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE

Police responded to the 100 block of Steeple Drive at 12:27 p.m. Sept. 11, for a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The car had been parked in a lot at around 8 p.m. Sept. 10, but was missing the next day
