Retail Thefts Reported At Woodman's: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

A customer was arrested during one incident, while others were issued adjudication tickets and trespass warnings.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Otoniel Rocha, 51, of the 1600 block of Hulin Street, Rockford, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence, aggravated driving under the influence when driving privileges revoked, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, suspended driver's license, and was arrested at 7:50 p.m. Jan. 18, in the 200 block of W. Robert Parker Coffin Road. Rocha had an outstanding warrant out of McHenry County. He was being held at Lake County Jail until extradition to McHenry County.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

  • Police responded to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 11:35 a.m. Jan. 17, for a report of a retail theft. Police met with two subjects, who employees said left the store with a full cart of groceries without paying for them. The groceries were recovered. The two subjects were issued adjudication tickets and trespass warnings.
  • A manager at Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, called police at 2:26 p.m. Jan. 17, to report a shoplifter. The person had walked out of the store with two bottles of Mocato without paying for them and had loaded them into his car. The person was cooperative with police when confronted and returned the bottles. He was issued and adjudication ticket for retail theft and given a trespass warning.
  • Police were called to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 11:17 a.m. Jan. 21, after a person exited the store with stolen items, valued at $277.86. They were issued an adjudication ticket and given a verbal trespass warning.

CUSTOMER/MANAGEMENT DISPUTE

An employee at T-Mobile, 848 Milwaukee Ave., called police at 12:37 p.m. Jan. 20, to report he was assisting a man and a woman about their warrant, when the man became irate and started verbally escalating the situation. The man made several lunges in the employee's direction and attempted to lure them out of the store. The woman also began insulting other employees. The duo left after being told police were being called to the scene. Police made contact with the two, who refused to be identified and were being uncooperative when asked about the incident. They were told not to return to the store.

BURGLARY

Police responded to Lux Cars Chicago, 88 E. Dundee Road, Buffalo Grove, at 1:40 a.m. Jan. 21, for an active alarm. The car dealership was closed for business and the alarm company indicated an activation. When police arrived on the scene, they saw four men getting into a black BMW, leave the scene westbound on Dundee at a speed of 100 mph.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Police were called to a home in the 0-100 block of Liden Avenue at 7:50 p.m. Jan. 21, for a report of residential burglary. Upon returning home, the complainant realized her bedroom had been ransacked. She said the front door was closed and locked. The rear patio door was unlocked, but left closed. Boxes, which were stacked against the door prior to her leaving, were now laying across the kitchen floor.
