Ruse Burglar Diverts Owner To Backyard: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

While one suspect engaged the owner in conversation, two others entered the home through the front door and stole personal items.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED/REVOKED

  • A 26-year-old Hoffman Estates woman is accused of driving on a revoked license, speeding 26+ mph over the speed limit (61 mph in a 35 mph zone), and was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 7, at W. Dundee Road and Trace Drive. She was released after posting $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Oct. 21.
  • A 22-year-old Arlington Heights man is accused of driving on a suspended license, and was arrested at 8:17 p.m. Sept. 9, in the 500 block of Windover Circle. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Oct. 14.
  • A 33-year-old Deerfield woman is accused of driving on a revoked license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, having an expired vehicle registration, and was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Sept. 9, at N. McHenry Road and W. Pauline Avenue. She was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Oct. 21.
  • A 36-year-old Buffalo Grove man is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, not wearing a seat belt, operating a vehicle with an expired registration, and was arrested at 8:44 a.m. Sept. 10, in the 500 block of W. Dundee Road. They were released after posting bond and were assigned a court date of Oct. 21.
  • A 31-year-old Elgin man is accused of driving on a suspended license, and was arrested at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 12, at W. Lake Cook Road and N. Highland Avenue. They were released after posting a $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of Oct. 21.

WARRANT

Xavier M. Turner, 29, of the 700 block of Laramie Avenue, Chicago, had a warrant out of Oak Park, and was arrested at 1:27 a.m. Sept. 10, at E. Busch Parkway and Corporate Grove Drive after being pulled over for an expired Illinois registration. He was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle. He was picked up at the Buffalo Grove Police Department by Oak Park police.

INCIDENTS

VANDALISM

A citizen reported at 8 a.m. Sept. 7, someone had spray-painted graffiti on the exterior of the overhead garage door for the parking garage in the 100 block of N. Buffalo Grove Road. They felt the graffiti could be removed with a power washer and did not report any permanent damage.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Police responded to Navajo Trail at 4:25 p.m. Sept. 7, for a report of a ruse burglary. The victim said three males showed up at the front door of their home. One of the suspects convinced the victim to accompany him to the backyard while leaving the other two. The suspect kept the victim occupied with conversation for several minutes. When the suspects left the home, the victim discovered personal items were missing.
