Authorities ID Semi Driver Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-94
A tire came off a semitrailer early Friday, causing a multi-vehicle crash that killed the driver.

The semi driver killed in an early morning crash on westbound I-94 has been identified as Sharmarke Dahir of Louisville.
The crash occurred at 5:52 a.m. and was caused by a tire that came off Dahir's 2007 Freight semitrailer, according to a report from the Daily Herald.
The semi was in the eastbound lanes of the Tri-State Tollway near mile marker 20 and Half Day Road when it struck the median, according to a report from the Lake Forest Fire Department. The trailer then spilled over the barrier into the westbound lanes and struck at least two other vehicles.

A second person was injured from the crash. One person in another involved vehicle was released without transport.
The Lake County Coroner's Office has scheduled an autopsy for Dahir for Tuesday -- after the office reopens following the holiday weekend, the Daily Herald reports.
The crash caused massive traffic delays along I-94 as authorities worked to investigate and clear the crash scene.
