Shopper Steals $700 In Groceries From Store: Buffalo Grove PD Blotter

The Arlington Heights man put the stolen items in his car and drove away from Woodman's, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING ON A REVOKED/SUSPENDED LICENSE

  • Elena M. Phelan, 39, of the 300 block of W. Happfield Drive, Arlington Heights, is accused of driving on a suspended license, not wearing a seat belt, and was arrested at 6:43 p.m. March 13, in the 800 block of Golfview Terrace. She was released and assigned a court date of March 14.
  • James Robert Kinnett, 44, of the 900 block of Blackburn Drive, Grayslake, is accused of driving on a suspended license, having on headlight, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 4:51 p.m. March 14, in the 800 block of Grove Drive. He was released and assigned a court date of April 12.
  • Debra L. Bowers, 49, of the 300 block of 9th Street, Wheeling, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating a vehicle with an expired registration, and was arrested at 9:52 a.m. March 15, at W. Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads. She was released and assigned a court date of April 12.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

  • Aliza Ramirez, 22, of the 300 block of Surrey Road, Wheeling, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, speeding, and was arrested at 1:09 a.m. March 16, at W. Dundee Road and Vernon Lane. She was released and assigned a court date of April 3.
  • Luis M. Cardona Escobar, 30, of the 1500 block of N. Silver Lane, Palatine, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested at 1:11 a.m. March 17, at W. Dundee and S. Arlington Heights roads. He was released and assigned a court date of April 17.

RETAIL THEFT

Tomasz M. Lis, 42, of the 2300 block of Nichols Road, Arlington Heights, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 4:44 p.m. March 16, at Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway. According to police, Lis reportedly walked around the grocery store, filling a shopping cart with $724.58, before exiting the store without paying for the items. He then put the items in a car and drove away. Police were able to locate Lis and made the arrest.

A resident in the 800 block of Prairie Road reported at 11 a.m. March 12, a package had been stolen from the residence.
