Stevenson Football Advances to Quarter Finals

The Patriots beat Glenbard North Saturday in the second round of class 8A playoffs.

The Stevenson Patriots beat Glenbard North Saturday in the second round of the state football playoffs 20-16, according to the IHSA website.

Stevenson (9-2) will next face off against Barrington (10-1). The time and place of that class 8A quarter final game has not yet been set.

The team trailed 14-7 at halftime due in large part to the work of Glenbard's running back Justin Jackson who scored both touchdowns, according to an article in High School Cube. The Patriots were able to contain Jackson in the second half and were helped by five turnovers, helping them regain the lead and win the game.

The Patriots beat St. Charles East last week, 35-7. Glenbard North ousted New Trier from the playoffs 35-10.

Patch reader Randy Gollay posted his praise for the team, in particular "a modest Cammeron Green (he said all he did was catch the ball and run, his teammates did all the blocking."
