SUV Driver Steals Man's Ring During Handshake: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE

  • Javier Andes Marquez-Ochoa, 24, of the 300 block of 8th Street, Wheeling, is accused of driving without a license, driving without a registration light, and was arrested at 9:19 p.m. May 28, at Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads. A court date of June 20 was assigned.
  • Artem Matsapura, 32, of the 600 block of Preston Drive, Bolingbrook, is accused of unlawful display of registration, never being issued a license, and was arrested at 3:53 p.m. June 1, in the 70 block of McHenry Road. A court date of July 11 was assigned.

DRIVING ON A REVOKED LICENSE

  • Silverio M. Meza, 45, of the 1800 block of Green Lane, Palatine, is accused of driving on a revoked license, operating a motor vehicle while using an electronic communication device, and was arrested at 11:29 p.m. May 29, in the 1200 block of Dundee Road. A court date of June 20 was assigned.
  • Kerria K. Robinson, 25, of the 200 block of W. Court Shorewood, Vernon Hills, is accused of having a suspended registration, driving on a suspended license, failure to carry driver's license on person while operating a vehicle, failure to notify secretary of state of address change for driver's license, and was arrested at 4:48 p.m. June 3, in the 200 block of McHenry Road. A court date of July 11 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A fence and shed on a property in the 1500 block of Brandywyn Lane was damaged between May 30 and June 2.

ROBBERY

A citizen reported at 10:30 a.m. June 2, that while they were on a walk near Prairie Road and Chestnut Terrace, they were greeted by a male driver of a white SUV, which pulled up next to him. The driver, who the victim did not know, had friendly conversation. The driver shook the victim's hand before leaving. The victim noticed when he returned home, his gold ring was slipped off during the handshake.

TRESPASSING

A female who had caused a disturbance in April returned at 6 p.m. May 28, to the 1500 block of Abbott Court. She was given an adjudication citation.

RETAIL THEFT

It was reported at 6:18 p.m. June 2, a male had stolen $26 worth of football cards. They were identified, paid restitution and adjudicated.
