Tarkington students host used book sale, donate proceeds to charity

Tarkington Elementary School students marked Read Across America Day with a used book sale and donated proceeds to Together We Rise.

Tarkington Elementary School students marked Read Across America Day with a used book sale, coordinated by the Helping Paws student service club and 5th grade classes.

Students and staff donated gently used books in the days leading up to the sale. Tarkington will donate $368 to Together We Rise, an organization working to improve the lives of foster children, through money raised from the book sale, and additional contributions generously given by students.

“Our students were excited to pick out books that were new to them, and also eager to make an impact in the lives of others through Together We Rise,” said Amanda Collett, 5th Grade Teacher at Tarkington Elementary School.
