Trio Promoted To Commander Ranks: Buffalo Grove Police Department

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Three Buffalo Grove police officers recently received promotions with the department. Thomas Nugent, Tara Anderson and Anthony Turano were officially sworn into the position of commander at a Jan. 2 Buffalo Grove Village Board meeting.

"These promotions mark a significant milestone as the department undergoes restructuring, creating the command level," the police department said in a news release regarding the promotions. "The newly appointed commanders bring a wealth of experience and a proven track record of service to the Buffalo Grove community."

Nugent, who has been with the police department for 34 years, has served as a patrol officer (1989-1992), investigator (1992-1997), technical services specialist (1997-1999), traffic motorcycle officer (2000-2001), investigations sergeant (2003-2012), administrative services lieutenant (2015-2018) and most recently as an investigations lieutenant.

Anderson, who has been with BGPD for 23 years, began as a desk officer in 2000 before being sworn in as a police officer one year later. She has served as a youth investigator (2007-2014), administrative services sergeant (2014-2015), staff support lieutenant (2020-2022).

Turano, who was sworn in as a police officer in 2006, has served as an investigator (2009-2010), directed patrol officer (2015-2020), and administrative sergeant (2022-2023). He became acting lieutenant last year.
