Trio Suspected In Thefts At Businesses: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

The three were seen stealing from two different businesses within 10 minutes of each other, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

  • Milton Josue Reyes Velasquez, 20, of the 90 block of Lakeview Avenue, Fox Lake, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, and was arrested at 1:08 p.m. July 19, in the 700 block of E. Lake Cook Road. He was released and assigned a court date of Aug. 16.
  • Ebelin Z. Hernandez-Santos, 26, of the 800 block of 8th Street, Waukegan, is accused of unsafe backing on a roadway, driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 2:54 p.m. July 20, in the 400 block of Raymond Road. He was released and assigned a court date of Aug. 16.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident in the 0-10 block of Villa Verde Drive reported at 4:54 p.m. July 17, the rear passenger window of their car had been shattered during the overnight hours.

BURGLARY

  • Police responded to Smoker's Hut, 80 W. Dundee Road, at 4:45 a.m. July 19, for a burglary report. They saw three masked men in a dark sedan flee from the area, and they were last seen traveling at a high rate of speed in the westbound lanes of Dundee Road. The trio had shattered the front glass door, and took money and merchandise.
  • Police responded to the 300 block of W. Half Day Road at 4:56 a.m. July 19, for a burglary in progress. They found broken glass and the front door slightly ajar. A gray sedan parked at Smoker's Hut was involved. Three people were seen walking in and out of the building carrying boxes in their hands. They all were wearing masks.

THEFT

  • A resident in the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane reported at 12:16 p.m. July 19, they had parked their car on the east side of the parking lot in front of their apartment building. During the overnight hours, their catalytic converter had been sawed off.
  • A resident in the 1500 block of Johnson Drive reported at 6:35 p.m. July 19, his electric bike had been stolen from his back patio, where it had been chain locked. He said he had last seen the bike the previous day at 11 p.m.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

A resident in the 1400 block of Margate Drive reported at 8:09 p.m. July 20, their car had been stolen. On July 16, their car had been rented through Turo, but it was supposed to be returned on July 19.
