Viewfinder: 'Reality TV Show' Stars

Buffalo Grove High School show sets stage for local talent.

Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson were no where to be seen, but that’s OK. Sophia Kravels, Dan Esquivel, Michael O’Konis and Katy Reinhart were in the house.

The three “American Idol” judges were not needed, thank you very much, because Kravels, Esquivel, O’Konis and Reinhart handled themselves just fine, not as judges, but as emcees at ’s talent show last week.

They even pulled off a funny send-up of “American Idol,” and all its knockoffs, with Esquivel wearing a slinky black dress and long blonde wig in imitation of Lady Gaga.

But BG’s talent event, officially dubbed “Realty TV Show,” really belonged to the 19 acts that graced the auditorium stage, including rockin’ bands, classical music ensembles, a baton twirler, a Harry Potter comedian, guitar-strumming singers performing original pieces and vocalists singing show tunes.

Unlike “American Idol,” there was no big winner at the end of the evening, said director Brian Deneisha. That honor went to the Student Council, which benefited from the $5 admission charged at the door.
