'Wide Tapestry' Of Vulgarities Found: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Hirvin Flores-Guevara, 22, of the 1200 block of Oboe Court, Wheeling, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, endangering the life of a child, and was arrested at 10:13 p.m. July 24, at W. Lake Cook Road and Raupp Boulevard. He was released after posting $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 9.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

Police responded to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 4:18 p.m. July 19, for a delayed theft report. Upon arrival, police met with a complainant, who said her wallet was stolen from her shopping cart when she was not looking.

RETAIL THEFT

  • Police responded to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 11:54 a.m. July 21, for a delayed retail theft report. An employee told police various bottles of alcohol were stolen on two different occasions.
  • Police responded to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 5:30 a.m. July 22, for a retail theft. A complainant told police they saw a patron placing cosmetics in their purse and left the store without paying for the items. The patron was issued a trespass warning.
  • Police were called to Ace Hardware, 745 S. Buffalo Grove Road, at 2:29 p.m. July 24, for a report of a disturbance in the store. An employee told police they saw a customer remove two 80-ounce cans of Blowoff Duster spray from the shelf. The customer was issued an ordinance violation for theft and a trespass warning.
  • An employee at Walgreens, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road, called police at 5 p.m. July 24, to report someone stole multiple bottles of alcohol and left in an unknown direction.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

A resident in the 70 block of Downing Road reported at 12:43 a.m. July 24, someone had entered their car and stole money.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

An officer on patrol at 2:07 a.m. July 24, found graffiti markings made with a permanent marker on the portable toilet, located in the rear parking lot of the school (near the baseball field) at Longfellow School, 501 S. Arlington Heights Road. The officer said a "wide tapestry" of juvenile vulgarities written inside and outside the facility.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

A citizen called police to report that between July 26 and July 26, someone stole the windshield wipers off their rental vehicle in the 800 block of Ridgefield Drive.
