$12 Million Price Tag On 20 Wooded Acres With Modest Home In Burr Ridge

A Burr Ridge couple just listed a 4-bedroom home set on 20 acres for $12 million, unseating the Palace Royale for the highest asking price.

BURR RIDGE, IL — There's just one modest home on a piece of land in Burr Ridge that is listed for $12 million. The 3,600 square foot house may be relatively small, but it's nestled on 20 wooded acres and it's not the most expensive residential real estate listing in the village.

Drs. Bharat and Raj Mittal purchased the 20-acre property in the 8100 block of South County Line Road in 2003 for just over $7 million. Currently, the couple rents out the only building on the land —a 4-bedroom home— to a tenant who enjoys views of 20 rolling acres of black walnut trees and a private stream.

The Mittals had intended to sell the land to developers for a subdivision, but that plan fell through when interested developers weren't keen on navigating the village approval process, according to Crain's Chicago Business. Now, they're looking for a person or developer with an extra $12 million to spare and a plan for what to do with 20-acres of forest.
