Scott Magnesen celebrates 30 years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney

Scott Magnesen, Managing Director and Financial Advisor, at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s Oak Brook office is celebrating 30 years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

Magnesen, a Burr Ridge resident, specializes in retirement and financial planning and helps individuals build their net worth and reach their financial goals.

He began his career in February 1982 and by 1988 he was a member of the Morgan Stanley’s Chairman’s Club. He has been a member for the past 24 years. Magnesen also was named #1 Financial Advisor in Chicago by Chicago Magazine in 2008. He also has been named to Barron’s Top 100 Advisors list for the past six years.

Magnesen is a frequent guest on WBBM-AM’s Noon Business Hour and has been a guest on the news programs of Chicago’s FOX and NBC affiliates.

Throughour his career, Magensen built a family business with the hiring of his father, Vern, in 1992; his brother-in-law, Malcolm Proudfoot, in 1993; his cousin, Lance Walker, in 1999 and his son, Ryan, in 2009.

The MPW Group of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney currently manages $1.7 billion and assists more than 3,700 families manage their financial portfolio.

Magnesen and his wife, Lynn, are both active with the USO of Illinois and the Midtown Educational Foundation in Chicago. They reside in Burr Ridge.
