Armed Man Steals Truck and Landscaping Equipment in Burr Ridge

A man and women made off with a landscaping truck and trailer, stealing thousands of dollars in equipment at gunpoint.

Burr Ridge, IL — Burr Ridge Police are looking for two suspects who reportedly stole a landscaping truck and a trailer filled with equipment Tuesday. An unidentified man and woman stole the workers’ truck and trailer, which contained various landscaping equipment.

The truck and landscaping equipment theft took place shortly after 12:30 p.m. on April 18, a man pulled up in a white Ford diesel pickup truck and approached a parked 1995 GMC Sierra in which a landscaper was seated while his partner was on break. Police told Chicago Tribune the man walked up to the landscaping worker, showed a gun and demanded that he get out of the GMC Sierra.

The worker got out of his company’s truck and the gunman got in and drove off with the GMC truck and its attached trailer. A woman who had been waiting in the gunman's Ford pickup truck then started driving the truck to follow her partner as he headed eastbound on 87th Street.

Police later located the GMC Sierra and trailer on nearby Hidden Lake Drive. The truck was not damaged, but the pair had made off with thousands of dollars in landscaping equipment.

The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, age 25 to 30 years old, standing about 5'7" tall with a heavy build. The male carjacking suspect has short hair and a chin beard, police said.

The second suspect is described as a Hispanic female around 25 years old with a heavyset build. At the time of the incident, she was wearing blue shorts and a peach shirt.
