BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge saw its largest daily jump Wednesday in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases. It is now 29 — 23 in the DuPage County part of the village and six on the Cook County side. The total was five more than the previous day.

In his daily bulletin Wednesday, Mayor Gary Grasso said neither he nor Police Chief John Madden are told where or who has tested positive.

"I disagree with that policy but must respect the health boards for this decision," Grasso said. "Although Burr Ridge spiked today in the number of reported persons testing positive, let's have hope that the worst may be over after this week. One report I read predicted that this Sunday — Easter — will be the peak."

In the previous day's bulletin, Grasso said that while any increases are unacceptable, they have remained relatively small, especially because Burr Ridge has four senior living centers — one in Cook and three in DuPage.

Late last month, the Brookdale Senior Living nursing home reported a total of four coronavirus cases — three residents and one employee. One of the residents died, Brookdale said.
