Burr Ridge Police Save Lives Of 2 Who Overdosed On Heroin

Burr Ridge police have saved the lives of two men who overdosed on heroin in a one week span.

BURR RIDGE, IL - Burr Ridge police officers have saved the lives of two overdose victims since the beginning of the new year. Officers responding to medical emergencies on Jan. 6 and Jan. 12 used the drug Narcan (Naloxone) in both incidents, according to a news release from the Burr Ridge Police Department.

A 31-year-old man was found unconscious at a home in the 100 block of Northgate at 5:40 p.m. on Jan. 6 after a friend call 911 and told police the unconscious man recently took heroin. Police Officer Thomas McKnabb administered two nasal injections of Narcan, which started reversing the effects of the the drug. The man made a full recovery at La Grange Hospital after Pleasantview paramedics arrived and continued life saving treatments.

The second overdose victim in less that a week was found by Police Officer Timothy Lesniak inside a disabled vehicle at Veterans Parkway and County Line Road at 12:33 a.m. on Jan. 12. The driver of the car told police that a 23-year-old man in the back seat had overdosed on heroin. Police say the officer administered two nasal injections of Narcan, which reversed the effects of the overdose.

The victim in this case was taken to Hinsdale Hospital by Tri-State paramedics, where he made a full recovery.
