BURR RIDGE, IL – The long-awaited sidewalk projects on Garfield Avenue and Kraml Drive are done, Burr Ridge officials said this week.

At a Village Board meeting, Village President Gary Grasso said the sidewalk on Garfield connects the neighborhood to the rest of the village's path system.

"There were a couple of hiccups with the village of Willowbrook, but we smoothed it out and both sides are happy, so we're getting a nice sidewalk on Garfield," Grasso said.

Trustee Tony Schiappa said he lives across from Kraml Estates, so he sees the Kraml sidewalk regularly.

"Within hours of the framing coming off, I saw dozens of people walking on the side with their dogs and with their partners," Schiappa said. "It was great to see people using the sidewalk."

With Garfield Avenue, the village built a sidewalk on the only missing section of the 2½-mile road between Burr Ridge and Hinsdale. Willowbrook installed a sidewalk on its missing portion earlier in the summer.

For Kraml, the village replaced a sidewalk.
