Burr Ridge Trash Fees Might Be Sliced in Half
Burr Ridge considers villagewide trash service that could cut costs considerably for homeowners.

BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge is looking into adopting a villagewide trash service that could save residents a decent chunk of cash. Currently, the village is serviced by four different trash haulers. The proposal, presented by Groot Industries, would cut that number down to just one. According to the Chicago Tribune, trash fees could be reduced to $16.85 a month. Right now, they hover around $36 monthly.
Officials expect less wear on streets, since the number of garbage trucks would be reduced. Currently, eight trucks haul waste from homes in Burr RIdge. Each Truck weighs more than 50,000 pounds.
The proposal will be considered by homeowners associations and some village officials on April 5. Villagers are invited to discuss the proposal April 12 and 20, the Chicago Tribune reports. The final vote will go to the Village Board on May 8. If the contract is approved, villagewide service can go into effect as early as August 1.
