D86 School Board Releases Draft of Newly Ratified Teachers' Contract

The D86 board voted Oct. 20 to approve the tentative agreement that was reached Oct. 9 between the school board and the Hinsdale teachers.

A draft of the newly ratified D86 teachers’ contract has been released by the District 86 school board.

The D86 board voted Oct. 20 to approve the tentative agreement that was reached Oct. 9 between the school board and the Hinsdale High School Teachers Association.

According to a D86 news release, the following are notable changes to the two-year agreement:

  • Restructured one lane on the salary schedule, reducing future salary costs
  • Employee must be rated as proficient or excellent to advance on the salary schedule
  • Automatic retirement incentives reduced from 6% to 3% the last four years before retirement (It should be noted that individuals can receive more if additional work is performed)
  • Employee contributions to health insurance premiums increase from 12% last year to 15% this year and 18% in the second year (See chart below that shows the first year of the contract)

Other Facts and Figures, according to the news release:

  • Salary increases will average 3.96% for the first year of the contract
  • Salary increase for those moving through the entire salary schedule will enjoy an annualized average increase of 5.01% over the course of their career
  • Entry level base salary is $52,913 and top of the scale salary is $129,035
