FREE LECTURE ON STUDY EVALUATING ALTERNATIVE TO TRADITIONAL OPEN-HEART SURGERY

-- On Wednesday, Feb. 15, Dr. Fred Leya of Loyola University Health System will give a free lecture in Burr Ridge on a clinical research study that offers an alternative to traditional open-heart surgery for patients who need new aortic heart valves.

Loyola is among a select group of 40 hospitals participating in the Medtronic CoreValve® U.S. Clinical Trial. Loyola is one of the few study sites in the Midwest, and the only site in the Chicago area.

Leya is one of the principal investigators for the Loyola site. Leya is a professor of Medicine and director of Interventional Cardiology at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
