Fishing Fight, Suspicious Chauffeur: Burr Ridge Driver

Men get in dispute over fishing at pond, where such activity is prohibited.

BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police have handled calls for disputes, noise, burning, theft and fireworks. Here is information from the latest reports:

Disputes

  • A resident on Dougshire Court told police June 27 that a man was again trying to fish at a nearby pond, even though signs indicate that fishing is prohibited there. The resident told the man he could not fish, so the man left and drove around the cul-de-sac, staring at the resident's house. An officer advised the homeowners association to send the man a certified letter. The officer unsuccessfully tried to reach the man.
  • An employee of VS Trucking, 16W485 S. Frontage Road, informed Willowbrook police that his company would not give him his belongings that were in his truck June 25. A Burr Ridge officer called the business and spoke with someone who said the employee was more than welcome to pick up his items. The employee said his truck was in Lemont and that he did not have a ride. A Willowbrook officer gave him a ride to his truck.
  • An officer provided a man a ride to his house in Westmont after his girlfriend asked him to leave her house. This happened about 11 p.m. June 24 in the 500 block of Joliet Road.

Burglaries and theft

  • A resident on Hidden Lake Drive reported that someone opened his garage and stole sunglasses from a car overnight June 27.
  • A house on Clover Meadow Drive was burglarized June 29. Jewelry was stolen from the master bedroom closet safe and top dresser drawer in the master bedroom. The person got through an unlocked front door.
  • A resident near Chasemoor Drive and 79th Street informed police June 26 that tropical flowers were stolen from flower beds between one and two weeks ago. The resident's cameras do not show the flower beds.
  • A tour pack was stolen from a motorcycle early the morning of June 27 in the 16W300 block of 94th Street. Also taken were a leather coat and heated gear from an unlocked compartment.

Animals

  • A resident called about an injured muskrat in her backyard shortly after noon June 24 in the 9100 block of Fallingwater Drive. She did not want the animal euthanized. An officer provided her with phone numbers for wildlife removal businesses.
  • A resident found a German shepherd in her yard about 7 a.m. June 26 in the 16W300 block of 93rd Place. At the station, an officer returned the dog to a resident on the 10S600 block of Oak Hill Court. The officer warned the resident about having a dog at large.

  • A mailbox on Devon Ridge was damaged between 2:30 p.m. June 26 and 1 p.m. June 27.
  • A resident in the 8100 block of South Madison Street reported that a semi truck did damage to the end of his driveway. The resident said he wanted the incident documented for his insurance.
  • A driver sideswiped the gutter and roof of the guard shack at 11:30 a.m. June 29 at 771 Provencal Drive.

Other

  • A resident on Northgate Place reported a suspicious car, a 2020 Lincoln, about 1:30 p.m. June 26. An officer spoke with the driver, who was a chauffeur. The driver said he was waiting to pick up a customer.
  • Police received a report of a man in a black Mercedes about 5 p.m. June 27 at County Line Road and Interstate 55 trying to flag down people for money. An officer was unable to find the man.
  • An officer was flagged down about 2 a.m. June 25 near County Line Road and Woodgate Drive. A woman was looking for her mother, who left a party on Tomlin Drive on foot and intoxicated. The officer found the mother sitting in a ditch in Katherine Legge Memorial Park. The mother was driven home.
  • A resident in the 8400 block of South County Line Road informed police June 25 that a woman in a gray Honda had been dumping trash in her garbage cans for the past month. An officer told the resident to call police if she sees her again. The resident was advised to store her garbage cans away from the street.
  • A man was open burning of leaves about 12:30 p.m. June 25 near 80th Street and Drew Avenue. An officer told him he must put out the fire and get an approved container.
  • Police received a report that an older man was jogging in front of cars and obstructing traffic about 1 p.m. June 23 in the 300 block of Burr Ridge Parkway, near Capri Ristorante. Officers could not find the jogger.
  • A resident on Fox Lane told police June 25 that she heard a loud firework go off and saw a person in a yellow shirt on her property head toward Willow Springs. An officer was unable to find the person.
  • Terrance M. Walker, 35, was cited about 3 a.m. June 26 on a charge of unlawful display of a license plate. He was stopped at 83rd Street and County Line Road for not having a rear plate light. The plate was registered to a trailer, and the owner said the plate was stolen.
  • A clerk at SpringHill Suites, 15W090 N. Frontage Road, informed police about 1:30 a.m. June 27 that two people got into an argument with her after she canceled their reservation because they had no identification or credit card to reserve the room. An officer stopped the people's car for a lane violation and then issued several citations.
  • Youths were on the roof of Elm School, 15W201 60th St., about 6:30 p.m. June 27. They were released to their parents.
  • A woman and her husband in the 15W300 block of 79th Street received phone calls from an unknown phone number June 29. The person left a voicemail in Lithuanian saying he would set their trucks on fire and burn down the house with the woman inside.
