Community Corner

For a local Foreign Exchange Student

My name is Danae, and I represent PAX – Program of Academic Exchange as a local coordinator. PAX is currently seeking a home for a German high school exchange student currently enrolled at Hinsdale South. She is currently being hosted by a great family, but they will not be able to host her for the full academic year. For this reason we are  actively searching for a great host family within the Hinsdale South district.

PAX students are 15-18 years old, have studied English for at least three years, and are covered by comprehensive medical insurance and have their own spending money for incidentals. Students are fully supported throughout the year by local representatives, in close cooperation with the staff at our national office.

Volunteer host families provide PAX students with a bed, a quiet place to study, a seat at the dining table, a warm and supportive home environment, and encouragement to engage in everyday American life. With their exchange students, host families experience such activities through fresh eyes while also learning about the exchange student’s country and culture. All types of families—single parents, young couples, retirees, and parents with teenagers—are welcome to host.

Founded in 1990, PAX is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to spreading cultural understanding through citizen diplomacy. Each year, more than 1,100 teenagers from over 70 different countries visit the U.S. as PAX exchange students. If you are interested in sharing your America with one of our fantastic students, please contact me at:
