Hinsdale High School Teachers' Association Files Intent to Strike

The earliest a strike could happen is Oct. 14.

The Hinsdale High School Teachers’ Association filed intent to strike paperwork today (Oct. 3) to the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board.

This filing is part of the legal process that can precede a strike. Teachers must wait 10 days after filing the intent to strike before they can legally go on strike.

The earliest a strike could happen is Oct. 14, according to a District 86 Board of Education announcement.

The most recent negotiation meeting was held Oct. 2 between the teachers and the D86. The next negotiation meeting is scheduled for Oct. 9.

Hinsdale teachers had said previously they would not let a strike interfere with Hinsdale Central’s Oct. 11 homecoming celebrations, and if a strike takes place, it would be after homecoming.

D86 announced in an email that until a work stoppage occurs, all courses, activities and athletics will continue as usual.
