BURR RIDGE, IL – A Burr Ridge man who is in prison for swindling two hospitals as part of a pandemic scam was indicted last week on more federal fraud charges.

A year ago almost to the day, Dennis Haggerty, 47, who lived on Burr Ridge's Hunter Court, was sentenced to nearly five years in prison for defrauding the hospitals out of $2.5 million.

Last Thursday, a federal grand jury indicted him on new fraud charges related to alleged fraud involving $1.8 million.

His fraud occurred for a year until September 2022, all the while he was under indictment for the other charges, authorities said.

According to federal court documents, Haggerty, as the chief operating officer, had online access to a Willowbrook company's bank account. He is accused of lying about his purported status as a certified public accountant.

Haggerty made payments from the bank account that appeared to be for legitimate company expenses, but transferred the money to a personal account he controlled, court records state.

He also issued purported payroll bonus payments from the company to himself, even though they were not authorized, prosecutors said.

The court documents don't say where Haggerty worked. But according to records in the previous case, Haggerty made a seven-figure salary from an unidentified employer.

In March 2020, Haggerty and two business partners formed At Diagnostics to sell personal protective equipment.

Representing the business, Haggerty sold hundreds of thousands of N95 respirator masks to two hospitals. He kept the money, but did not deliver the products, prosecutors said.

He was indicted in that case in November 2020.

In spring 2022, Haggerty pleaded guilty to fraud in selling the equipment to Northwestern and University of Iowa hospitals.
