Man Caught Ice Fishing On Private Pond In Burr Ridge, Or Did He?
A 39-year-old man told police he will move to the Deer Path Trail pond so residents stop calling the police on him.

BURR RIDGE, IL - A 39-year-old man who was ice fishing at the pond near the corner of 82nd and Madison streets in Burr Ridge says he'll fish elsewhere after the latest time residents of the homes nearby have called the police on him. But what isn't clear is whether or not he was actually breaking the law.
Police who responded to the complaint at 9:51 a.m. on Jan. 9 contacted Village Hall and the Burr Ridge Public Works Department, but were told that paperwork stating whether the pond is public or privater could not be found.
Both the people the officer spoke with at Village Hall and the Public Works Department said they thought the pond was private since the residents pay to maintain it.

But the ice fisher pointed out to police that there are no signs posted and that he believed it was a public pond.
Nevertheless, the man told police he would move his fishing spot to the nearby Deer Path Trail pond that is public "so the residents stop calling the police on him."
