Officer's Rescue, DUI Accident: Burr Ridge Cops
Woman is charged with drunken driving after accident.
BURR RIDGE, IL — The Burr Ridge Police Department on Tuesday released information about its recent activities, which included its response to an accident resulting in a DUI charge and an officer who rescued a choking man:
- Elaine Trapp, 63, was arrested shortly after noon Nov. 27 at County Line and Plainfield roads on a charge of DUI after she caused a three-car crash in the intersection after failing to yield. Two vehicles were towed away. Trapp was released after posting bond.
- Two men from a landscaping company were attempting to steal bushes shortly before 4 p.m. Nov. 27 on Hidden Lake Drive. The men said they were not paid in full by the previous owner of the house. An officer said the dispute was a civil matter and that the men could not remove bushes from the property.
- Police received a report of an underage party shortly before midnight Nov. 30 on Lakeview Lane. When an officer arrived, several people were leaving in Ubers. The homeowner said the party was for her son and that it was over. The person appeared intoxicated. The officer found no signs of criminal activity.
- A resident called police about 7:30 a.m. Dec. 2 to report a deer with a broken leg lying in her yard with coyotes circling it. The officer saw one coyote near the deer. The officer euthanized the deer with three rounds from his gun after receiving permission from a detective. The officer notified the public works department to remove the animal.
- Officer Matthew Overton was called to help a person who was choking on food about 6:30 p.m. Nov. 26 on Carriage Way Drive. The officer performed the Heimlich maneuver on the man and cleared his airway. Paramedics arrived minutes later and were able to fully clear his airway. The man went to the hospital.
- A resident on 81st Street complained Nov. 26 that loud music shakes his walls late every night. An officer spoke with the neighbor, who said he would be more considerate and turn his music down.
- A domestic battery was reported about 6 a.m. Nov. 20 at a house on 71st Street. A woman said her sister kicked her in the stomach in a dispute over a hidden coffee pot. The other woman denied hitting her sister.
- Police were called about picketers Nov. 22 outside of a business on Burr Ridge Parkway. A few people were protesting about a labor issue. They were on the easement and not blocking traffic or workers.
Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
