Phone Scam, Theft, Suspicious Automobile: Burr Ridge Police Blotter

Burr Ridge crime reports included a phone scam in which someone used deceptive tactics to try to get $1,450 sent to them.

BURR RIDGE, IL — The following information is from the Burr Ridge Police Department’s crime reports between May 5, 2017 and May 12, 2017.

May 5: Theft Over $500

Officers responded to a theft report at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 15W300 South Frontage Road. Upon arrival, police caught a laborer with 54 stolen carpet tiles in his vehicle.

May 6: Suspicious Auto

A suspicious auto was spotted at 120 Carriage Way. Officers said there was a female in an idling teal 1995 who had the appearance of a meth addict. When officers spoke with the woman, she said she had hit a pothole on I-55 and had pulled over because her steering seemed off. Police arranged for the woman to leave her car there until she could have it towed. A family friend picked her up.

May 8: Telephone Scam

A Kirkwood Cove resident reported receiving a scam phone call in which a man pretended to be his grandson and requested $1,450. The incident took place around 10:35 a.m. Monday and the resident did not send any money.
