Guns Found, Alert Neighbors: Burr Ridge Cops
Jewelry taken in a burglary. Officers responded to a burglar alarm.
BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, police handled calls involving the theft of guns, a suspicious neighborhood and a domestic violence arrest, among others. Here is information from the reports:
Theft
- Jewelry and two guns were reported stolen in a burglary Aug. 11 in the 6700 block of Fieldstone Drive. Officers responded to a burglar alarm about 2:30 p.m. and found forced entry to a rear garage service door. The police later reported that the man said he found the guns. They were not where he initially thought.
- A 2017 GMC on Morgan Court was burglarized overnight Aug. 1. A black iPhone 11 was stolen.
- A 2004 Chrysler in the 1100 block of Woodview Road was burglarized overnight Aug. 9. Nothing was reported stolen.

- Evan L. Grossman, 34, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Aug. 10 in the 8400 block of Walredon Avenue on a charge of domestic battery. He was accused of pushing his brother against the wall during an argument. Grossman was taken to the DuPage County Jail for a bond hearing.
Alert neighborhood
- A resident on Stirrup Lane reported a suspicious car driving up and down the street about 3:30 p.m. Aug. 10. Police determined it was a car driven by a police department detective investigating a residential burglary.
- A woman told police Aug. 11 that she was walking down Stirrup Lane to the house where she was supposed to start working when a resident asked her why she was in the area and took her photo. An officer explained to the woman that the neighborhood had recently experienced a burglary and that residents are just being observant.

- A caller told police about 6:30 a.m. Aug. 11 that two people were having sex in a car in the 100 block of Burr Ridge Parkway. An officer spoke with the people, who said they were waiting for the nearby Great American Bagel to open. The complaint was considered unfounded.
- Police were called about a solicitor who was surveying for hail damage Aug. 12 on Roanoke Court. The woman wearing a gray shirt and purple or red pants could not be found.
- A resident in the 6200 block of Garfield Avenue informed police two men came to his door to repair his refrigerator about 9 a.m. Aug. 4, which he was expecting. When he asked them to come into his house from the garage, they ran to a black van and left. His calls and texts to the repair company have not been returned. Police were unable to find the van.
- Stough Group, 7650 S. County Line Road, informed police Aug. 5 that it received a phone message that was threatening. An officer said it was vulgar, but not threatening. Contacted by police, the caller denied leaving the message and gave no further information.
Other
- A woman was choking at Eddie Merlot's restaurant about 5 p.m. Aug. 8, but her two nephews performed the Heimlich maneuver and rescued her. They were at a 50th wedding anniversary.
- Residents in the 7800 block of County Line Road reported seeing a highly intoxicated man sitting against a utility pole and shouting about 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9. He was unable to answer officers' questions. An officer attempted to call the man's girlfriend, but the person answering the phone was struck by the girlfriend's car. The girlfriend was also apparently intoxicated. The man was taken to the hospital in Hinsdale.
- A resident on Laurie Lane informed police Aug. 12 that he planned to fire an employee from his business in Oak Brook and wanted an extra watch on his house as the employee has been acting erratically and knows where he lives.
- A resident on Chesterfield Court informed police Aug. 13 that a neighbor ripped up $150 worth of landscaping in front of her residence.
