Trustee Zach Mottl Criticized For His Statements And Actions
False accusations by Trustee Zach Mottl allow him to grandstand on the backs of our hardworking dedicated Burr Ridge police force.
You may recall that back in August of 2020, Trustee Mottl hurled false accusations at our hardworking dedicated Burr Ridge Policemen and Policewomen—falsely accusing them of, amongst other things, “operating a crime ring in the Village.”

Police Chief John Madden and Detective Cervenka responded in person to the false accusations as stressed the comments made by Trustee Mottl were “offensive,” “baseless and without merit,” and that Trustee Mottl’s comments “disgust him”.

Mottl’s words were so flagrant that all three members of the Burr Ridge Board of Fire and Police Commissioners took time to appear before the Village Board to note how offended they were by Trustee Mottl’s comments. They agreed with Chief Madden’s and Detective Cervenka’s comments quoted above, and added Trustee Mottl’s claims were “a disgrace to the Village.”

The Board also censured Mottl for those denigrating comments of our fine Police force and for his refusal to stand when three Corporals were promoted to Sergeants.

Those three dedicated Police Officers have over 46 years of service to our Village and yet Mottl could not even stand or applaud in an effort to congratulate them. Pathetic.
What is most egregious is that Mr. Mottl has never provided any proof to back up his false accusations. No proof. Nothing—just grandstanding on the backs of our fine Police officers by Mr. Mottl.

Why, you ask? Maybe it is because of Trustee Mottl’s skirmishes with the law.
You see, between the period 1995 and 2013, Mr. Mottl has been convicted of over 21 moving violations in an 18 year period. These offenses were for speeding between 15 mph OVER the limit up to 40 mph OVER the speed limit. These were NOT parking tickets—Lead-foot Mottl.
In addition, he was convicted of leaving the scene of an accident (hit and run) and driving without insurance (See DuPage County Case No. 2002TR160620). If I were to take Mottl’s lead and speculate, I would say “No wonder he doesn’t like the police!” Does Trustee Mottl think the hardworking dedicated Police are “picking” on him by arresting him for going 40 mph over the speed limit? Or maybe Trustee Mottl thinks the laws do not apply to him?
In addition, he plead guilty to cannabis possession and possession of drug paraphernalia in 1997 when he was 19 years old. Even with today’s relaxed cannabis laws, it is still illegal for a 19-year-old to possess cannabis and drug paraphernalia (See Cook County Case No. 97500712301)

Mr. Mottl makes false accusations against the fine Burr Ridge police force—without any shred of evidence or proof—to deflect attention away from his robust criminal past. Perhaps he is retaliating against the Police because they want Mr. Mottl to obey the law. What a concept for Mr. Mottl!
