What Will Happen To Burr Ridge Events?
The village is considering changes to concert series, car show and 5K run.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge has yet to make changes to its lineup of events this year because of the coronavirus, but it is considering doing so. The village is looking at delaying Armed Forces Day events, Run the Ridge and the Classic Car Show. And it is considering moving the performances in the Summer Concert Series to the summer of 2021.
At this week's Village Board meeting, Evan Walter, the assistant administrator, said the goal was to abide by public health guidelines while also providing an outlet for residents to have fun.
"The pandemic is still ongoing. We really just wanted to bring this up for discussion," Walter said.

Officials said the village would incur no liability if it rescheduled current commitments to a later date.
"It sounds to me that we're trying to be as flexible as possible," Mayor Gary Grasso said.

Here is what village officials are considering proposing:
- Armed Forces Day: It was set for May 16, but the village may hold it Nov. 8, instead, to coincide with the observance of Veterans Day.
- Classic Car Show: This event would be moved from June 14 to sometime in October, combining with the Fall Festival of Fun.
- Run the Ridge: It is set for June 6, but would be rescheduled for Nov. 26, which is Thanksgiving morning. This, the village said, is the most popular day for 5K runs in the United States. It would be called the Run the Ridge Turkey Trot.
- Taste of Burr Ridge: This event would be held over the Labor Day weekend. It would be positioned as the first "post-pandemic" special event, according to the village. It was held in September last year.
- Jingle Mingle: It is still planned for Nov. 13.
