Which Burr Ridge Roads To Be Fixed?
A village trustee says Burr Ridge's streets are better than those in Darien and Hinsdale.

BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge officials last week praised the village's performance in keeping streets maintained, with one saying the village does a better job than Hinsdale and Darien. The Village Board approved the street improvements program for the next year.
"There is a noticeable difference when I drive into Burr Ridge from Hinsdale or Darien," Trustee Tony Schiappa said at the board's meeting. "My neighbors who moved into town say the same thing — that the roads here are very well-maintained, very nice to drive on."
Trustee Anita Mital agreed. "We have some of the best roads in the area, with the least amount of expenses."

In the last year, the village spent $1.4 million on street improvements, above the five-year average of $750,000, according to a report. About half of the money went toward the Burr Ridge Parkway project, 80 percent of which was paid for with a state grant.
For the next year, spending will fall to about $750,000 again. But in a couple of years, it should rise again. That's because a bunch of streets done in 2001 will be coming due for resurfacing, said David Preissig, the village's public works director.

"We're trying to stretch out the dollars as much as we can," Preissig said.
The board unanimously approved the annual resurfacing program. Trustee Zach Mottl was absent.
Here are the streets targeted for improvements in the next year:
- Devon Ridge Subdivision: Devon Ridge Drive, Devon Ridge Court, Circle Ridge Drive and Circle Ridge Court
- Lake Ridge Subdivision: Lake Ridge Drive, Lake Ridge Court Ridgepoint Drive and 81st Street (Madison to Ridgepoint Drive)
- Longfield Hill Subdivision: Erin Lane
