Two dogs and a cat died Saturday in a house fire in Braidwood at Parkview and School Street.

Braidwood Fire Chief Ken Heberer told Network Video Productions the call came in about 1:40 p.m. Saturday that there was a house on fire. A large portion of the garage was in flames and was traveling into the house.

When firefighters arrived, they were informed of pets in the house. They pulled out two dogs and a cat and performed CPR on them, but all three animals died.

“They were given the best oxygen,” Heberer said in a video interview. “Even on the way out, they were given the best oxygen. Unfortunately, the pets did not make it.”
