5-Car Wreck On Ridge Road Sent 3 Motorists To Hospital With Serious Injuries: Sheriff's Office

MINOOKA, IL — The Kendall County Sheriff's Office has issued a press release in regard to Tuesday's late afternoon wreck involving five vehicles along the busy stretch of Ridge Road. The crash happened at Bell Road, which is rural Minooka.

According to Kendall County, the 4:50 p.m. collision in Seward Township happened as all five vehicles were heading southbound on Ridge Road. When one of the vehicles slowed down to make the left-hand turn to Bell Road, that resulted in the chain-reaction crash, sheriff's officials said.

Sheriff's Office Spokesman Dan Briars told Joliet Patch that a 79-year-old motorist suffered the most serious injuries. He said the other two people transported by ambulance were women, ages 58 and 40.

The 79-year-old motorist suffered life-threatening injuries, while the two other motorists were taken by ambulance to local hospitals with serious injuries they suffered as well. Their injuries are not life-threatening, the authorities said.

Briars said the investigation indicated that as the vehicles were slowing down on Ridge Road for the first car to make the left turn onto Bell Road, the last vehicle didn't stop in time, resulting in the chain reaction crash.

Ridge Road had to be closed for four hours on Tuesday while the investigation unfolded and the wreckage was cleared. Minooka Fire, Troy Fire and Channahon Fire all responded to the scene.
