• Lawsuits in Will, Grundy and Winnebago counties could map out future of solar farms (shawlocal.com) — Channahon has joined Shorewood in court fights over large solar farms planned along their borders, arguing county approvals were improperly forced by state law. With multiple lawsuits now winding through Illinois courts and a possible state Supreme Court review, the eventual rulings could determine how much say Channahon residents and officials have over future solar projects nearby.
• Former Michigan City police officer under investigation for Flock camera misuse (cbsnews.com) — Channahon is among several Illinois communities where police officers are under investigation for allegedly misusing Flock license plate cameras, part of a broader national scrutiny of the technology. Local readers should know that similar concerns have already prompted some suburbs to suspend or reconsider Flock contracts while others, including Will County communities, are expanding their use.
