CHANNAHON, IL — Practically every week now, someone in Channahon is being arrested and taken away in handcuffs to the Will County Jail facing shocking allegations involving a crime. This week's latest criminal complaint involved 35-year-old David Mcumber Jr., who stands accused of a fiery crime that apparently harmed a minor child.

Mcumber is charged with reckless conduct and endangering the life or health of a child and he isn't being released from the Will County Jail for now. The incident leading to Wednesday morning's arrest by the Channahon Police Department happened back on Sept. 26.

According to the Channahon police criminal complaint, Mcumber recklessly handed a minor child a gasoline-soaked stick to throw into a fire and while committing the offense, he caused great bodily harm or permanent disability or permanent disfigurement to the child victim.

Interestingly, the Will County Sheriff's Office filed a new case against Mcumber this week charging him with possession of controlled substances for an offense that happened last December. Mcumber was given a four-year prison sentence way back in 2012 for a pair of 2010 crimes involving manufacturing and delivery of cocaine and possession of controlled substances.
